An estimated 1.5% of the land area of the UK is due to be restored to some form of wild habitat in the coming years, to create ‘living landscapes’ of inter-connected sites.
We can help you turn your property into a vital piece of this jigsaw in the most appropriate and cost-effective way.
And habitat creation doesn’t have to be large-scale to be of value – road verges, churchyards, parks and roundabouts can all support a wide range of flora and fauna.

Domestic gardens and commercial properties are covered elsewhere, but here are some options available for other sites.
Tree planting is often seen as the easiest and most obvious form of habitat creation. We can help with the selection of appropriate, locally-sourced native tree species, as well as seeds or plug-plants to speed the establishment of a ground flora. And we can carry out the planting for you too.
Cornfield annuals are the best choice for fast, spectacular results. We can advise on appropriate species and sources of seed. Bear in mind, though, that cornfield species are annuals and will need ground disturbance each year to maintain a stunning display.

Meadows are less labour-intensive but slower to develop. If you are not in a hurry and can undertake one or two annual mowings, virtually any patch of ground can be turned into a species-rich meadow that will benefit invertebrates and small mammals.
On acid soils the options are more limited, but an attractive low-maintenance heathland flora, including heather and its relatives, can be established with ease.
And if you are fortunate enough to have a patch of existing habitat that is perhaps in need of a little TLC, we can advise on the most appropriate management to bring it back to its best.
